- In the years 1603-1613 Esaias Compenius built a two-manual organ with an independent pedal for the Martinikirche in Kroppenstedt. The instrument was modified over time. Wilhelm Boden carried out a restoration in 1836. Because the organ was old and no longer popular, August Gottfried Ritter advised to have a new organ built. On his advice, the commission was given to Adolf Reubke, who built a new organ behind the old prospect in 1858/1859, using reusable Compenius pipework.
- The prospect pipes were removed in 1917. These were not replaced, but a red cloth was hung in the instrument to cover the empty places. In the years 1957/1958, Wilhelm Sohnle carried out a restoration, changing the romantic stop list to make it sound brighter. The organ has been preserved in this condition. For a long time it was thought that the old pipe work from before 1858 came from the old organ of the Dom in Magdeburg, but further investigation has shown that this is not correct, but that it was made by Compenius for the old organ of the church in Kroppenstedt itself.
