- In 1607/1608 Paul Müller built an organ for the German Church in Stockholm. It originally had two manuals and pedal. In 1622 and 1625 the instrument was rebuilt and expanded with a Rückpositiv as a third manual by Per Jönssen (1622) and George Herman and Philip Eisenmenger (1925). The organ originally also had a Brustwerk. This was removed during a major renovation by George Herman in 1647-1651, and a new Överwerk was placed. Martin Haak expanded the Öververk in 1723 with a Vox Humana. Daniel Stråhle replaced the Nasat in 1742 with a Qvinta 1 1/3'.
- In 1779 the organ was sold to the church of Övertorneå, a village in northern Sweden. It has since been amended several times. Because the organ was too big for this church, the positive has been removed and placed as a separate organ in the church of Hietaniemi. Four old registers are still present in the organ.
- The organ in Hietaniemi was repaired in 1893 by N.O. Alm. In 1935 the Grönlund company built a new pneumatic organ behind the facade. This was replaced in 1983-1984 by a new organ from the same company. The old disposition of the Rückpositiv in Stockholm was taken as the starting point.
- On the night of September 26, 2023, a fire broke out in the tower, which spread to the church. The building could not be saved and was lost in its entirety.
