De orgelkas van het orgel in de Nikolaikirche te Cottbus is niet nieuw, maar is afkomstig uit de Sankt Nikolaikirche in Hainichen (Sachsen). Het werd gemaakt door twee leerlingen van Gottfried Silbermann, Johann Georg Schön en Adam Gottfried Oehme in 1759.Toen deze kerk in 1898 is afgebroken werd het orgel gesloopt. De kas bleef echter bewaard in opslag. Hij werd in de jaren zestig van de twintigste eeuw weer ontdekt. Na restauratie is de kas in 1982 in Cottbus geplaatst, ter vervanging van het in 1979 beschadigde Jehmlich-orgel uit 1950. De firma Eule bouwde een geheel nieuw orgel in de historische kas, opus 500 van de firma. De kas werd wel dieper gemaakt. Adviseurs bij de bouw waren Christhard Kirchner uit Berlijn en de cantor-organist van de kerk, Wilfried Wilke. Het orgel werd in gebruik genomen tijdens het Erntedankfest.
