In 1846 Johan Liljegren built an organ for the church of Slätthög. The instrument served until 1887. In that year the old organ of the Domkyrka in Växjö was acquired. This instrument was built in 1779 by Lars Wahlberg and completed by Olof Schwan. In 1826 a revision with an alteration of the specification followed by Johan Peter Åberg. He replaced the Scharff of the Öververk with a Fugara 8'.
In 1863 Frans Andersson worked on the organ. Several modifications were made. He exchanged the Qvinta of the Öververk with the Flûte Traversière of the Huvudverk. He also replaced the Flagfleut 8' with a Flûte Harmonique 8', the Qvintadena 8' with a Principal 8' and the Vox Humana 8'/Trompette 4' combination of the Öververk with a Fagott 8'. The two Quints, the Blockfleut and the Scharff, disappeared from the pedal, replaced by the Qvintadena from the Öververk and a Qvinta 12' and a Täckflöjt 4'.
In 1887 Åkerman & Lund built a new organ in Växjö Domkyrka behind the prospect from 1779. The old instrument withouth the organ case was sold to Slätthög. It was installed behind the Liljegren front without any changes. The prospect pipes were left behind in Växjö, for which reason a new Principal 8' was made for both manuals and the pedal.
In 1912 E. Wirell replaced the Bassoon 8' with a Euphon 8'. Nils Hammerberg converted the organ to pneumatic action in 1937 and installed a free-standing console. In 1968 this was made undone by Johannes Künkel, who reconstructed the mechanical action.
