- The organ in the Stephanikirche in Helmstedt has a beautiful organ case from the Renaissance. The chaire positive is newer than the main case, and bears the year 1584. The old interior has long since disappeared. In 1882 the Sauer company built a new organ in the main work case. This organ, with mechanical action and cone chests, was converted in 1904 by the same company to pneumatic action.
- In 1954 the Weißenborn company completed the first part of a completely new organ, which was completed in 1964. However, the three-manual instrument with 34 stops did not last long. Karl Schuke built a new work in 1975 on the occasion of the 675th anniversary of the church building. Consultant was Friedrich Peter-Isenbürger. In the year 2000 Christoph Grefe expanded the organ with a modern Setzer installation with 4000 combination options.
