The organ contains older material: Pipes from 1738 by Sébastien Lachapelle

  • The history of the organ in the Église Saint-Loup in Namur begins in 1738, when Sébastien Lachapelle built an organ for the sisters of the convent in Salzinnes. This organ was sold to the parish of Saint-Loup in 1808. An organ by Jean-Baptiste Le Picard had stood in this church since 1734, which was sold to Esneux. In 1857 the Merklin company built a new organ for the church with a new organ case. The case of the Positif de Dos was maintained in the gallery, but was no longer in use. Only the front pipes were preserved. Merklin's organ had 30 registers. Ten stops were taken from the old organ.
  • The Thomas company built a new organ in the historic cases of Merklin and Lachapelle in the years 2019-2023. A new choir organ was built with the still present historical material from 1738. Both new organs were inaugurated on October 27, 2023 with a concert by four organists: Cindy Castillo, Bernard Foccroulle, Benoît Mernier and Roland Servais.
