1861 Johann Josef Jauch  new organ

  • In January 1855, an agreement was signed with the organ builder Thomas Sylvester Walpen for the construction of a new organ in the Roman Catholic Sankt Martinskirche in Malters. The design was a two-manual organ with 24 stops. The instrument would be delivered at Easter 1856. However, Sylvester Walpen soon became seriously ill and died on April 21, 1857. The organ was far from completed, but the parts already made were requisitioned by the church council. In April 1860, Joseph Jauch was commissioned to complete the organ. The organ was completed in November 1861 and was inspected on November 25 by Leopold Naegeli and Vinzenz Meyer.
  • In 1927 the organ was replaced by a new organ by Friedrich Goll Orgelbau.
