2008 Casavant Frères  restoration

  • The organ at Myers Park Presbyterian Church in Charlotte was built in 1961 by Casavant. It replaced a Hook & Hastings organ from the 1920s. Consultant was Austin C. Lovelace. The organ was inaugurated with a concert by Edward Power Biggs on January 21, 1962.
  • In 1975 a separate two-manual console was installed at the Antiphonal Organ. In the following years (1978-1985) some registers were replaced: the Unda Maris of Choir by a Spitz Principal 4', the Hohlflöte 8' and Koppelflöte 4' by Swell were replaced by a Bourdon 8' and a Rohrflöte 4', the Corno d'Amour 8' was replaced by a Hautbois 8', which was renewed in 1985. On Great the Rohrflöte 4' has been removed, and a Cornet has been added. Around 1980, Antiphonal's Gemshorn 4' was moved to a two-foot register, and a Principal 4' was added. The removed Koppelflöte 4' from Swell has been placed on the Antiphonal Manual instead of the Flauto Traverso 4'. Finally, a Basse Acoustique 32' has been placed on the pedal, as a result of the Contrabass 16' and the existing Quint 10 2/3'.
  • New consoles were installed in 2008: a four-manual console at the main organ and a three-manual console at the Antiphonal Organ.
