A crematorium was built in 1909 on the grounds of the Johannisfriedhof in Dresden-Tolkewitz. The building was designed by Fritz Schumacher. It was commissioned on May 22, 1911. An organ was built in the chapel in 1911 by Julius Jahn. The instrument was renovated and modified by the Jehmlich company in 1947. In 2015, Ekkehart Groß carried out a restoration.
