The organ in the Sankt Stephankirche in Thuringia, Vorarlberg, was built in 1773 by an unknown organ builder. In 1801 a new organ was placed in the case by Joseph Bergäntzel. This instrument was rebuilt by Josef Schmidle in 1871 and replaced by a new organ by the firm Brüder Mayer in 1932. However, much of Bergäntzel's material was still available. In 1985 Martin Pflüger built a new mechanical organ in the 1773 case. All registers of the Hauptwerk are by Joseph Bergäntzel.
