Severalls Psychiatric Hospital in Colchester was opened in 1913. A few years later the Hill, Norman & Beard firm installed a small pipe organ in the chapel. The instrument was overhauled in 1935 by Cedric Arnold. The hospital, also known as the Essex and Colchester Mental Hospital, was closed in March 1997. The buildings remained, but soon fell into disrepair. In February 2016, the entire site was sold for the development of new residential buildings. The organ in the chapel was restored by Alfred Poeschl, Eric Cordé and Roger Pulham and transferred to the Église Saint-Clément in La Richardais in Brittany. It was put into use there in 2017.
