  • The First Church of Christ in Lancaster, Massachusetts, was constructed in 1816-1817 after a design by Charles Bulfinch. In 1841 a pipe organ was installed in the gallery, that was replaced in 1869 by the current instrument. This organ is the work of W.B.D. Simmons from Boston. It had two manuals and fourteen stops. In 1884 the instrument was expanded with a second pedal stop (Bourdon 16') by Reuben G. Reed. Reed also replaced the original hitch-down Swell pedal with a modern balanced pedal.
  • In 1963, a restoration was carried out by the Andover Organ Company. They added a Sesquialtera to Great and modified or renewed the Mixture. The Swell was modified to make it more bright in sound by adding a Flautino 2' and Quint 1 1/3', and removing the Keraulophon and Salicional.
