The organ contains older material: Organ case from 1737 by Gian Giuseppe Gatti Amadori
In 1737 Gian Giuseppe Gatti Amadori built two organs in the church of San Domenico in Bologna, one on the epistle and one on the gospel side of the choir. In 1851 Bossi-Urbani replaced the interior of the instrument on the epistle side, re-using Gatti's front pipes. In 1854 the brothers Cesare, Quintino and Ferdinando Rasori replaced the interior of the organ on the opposite gallery, leaving the front pipes as well.
