  • In 1921 a new large organ was built by Ernest M. Skinner for the Second Congregational Church in Holyoke. The previous church building from 1884 was destroyed by a fire on March 24, 1919. The organ by Hutchings - rebuilt in 1893 by them and in 1905 by Skinner - was lost completely. The new church was designed in gothic style and could be dedicated on December 23, 1921. The organ dedication followed a month later by the church organist William Churchill Hammond on January 27, 1922. The new organ had 85 stops on four manuals and pedal.
  • The organ has been preserved in its original state. Some technical repairs and releathering of the wind chests were carried out in the seventies by Albert E. Carter. The company Czelusniak & Dugal restored the organ in some phases from 1979 to 1985.
  • The Second Congregational Church merged with Grace United Church in 1996 to become the United Congregational Church. Grace United Church itself was a combination of First Congregational Church and the German Reformed Church, fuisoned in 1961, and Grace Congregational Church, that was established in 1973.
