On the first of December, 1965, a fire destroyed the church building of Saint Matthew and Saint Timothy in New York City. The old organ, built by Skinner in 1925, was lost. A new church was built on the same location. The Austin Organ Company was commisioned to build the new organ. Consultant was Bassett Hough, organist of the church. The instrument could be dedicated in 1969.
