  • The Schlicker Organ Company built a new organ for the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Chicago in 1964-1965, replacing the old Möller opus 4999 from 1927. The Schlicker organ was realised with slider chests and electric action. The organ was installed in a wooden case in gothic style, designed by Herman Schlicker and Donald Ingram. The instrument had 55 stops, including 12 extensions. The new organ was dedicated during a church service on January 24, 1965 with the church organist Benjamin Hadley playing the new instrument. The official inauguration concert was played by David Craighead on February 22, 1965.
  • In 1984 the Berghaus Company renovated the organ, revoiced a number of stops and added some new stops and transmissions. A new console was also installed. These works carried on until 2001, when the organ was finally completed. At that time it was dedicated to David Schrader, who was organist of the church for a long time.
