  • The Church of Saint Mary of the Angels in Wellington was built in the Gothic Revival style in the years 1920-1922. The building was designed by Frederick Clere. It replaced a church from 1874, which was lost to a fire in 1918.
  • The organ was built in 1958 by George Croft and Son. Construction was carried out under the supervision of Maxwell Fernie. Much pipework was manufactured in England and Germany. The organ was renovated by the South Island Organ Company in 1984, whereby the disposition has been modified. On this work, the consultant also was Maxwell Fernie.
  • Restoration was necessary due to damage caused by flooding. In 2006-2007 this work was carried out by the South Island Organ Company. The electrical installation from 1958 has been replaced by a modern computer-controlled transmission. The renovated organ was put into use again on April 29, 2007.
