2011 South Island Organ Company  restoration

The organ in the church of Saint Peter's on Willis was built in 1887 by the English firm Hill & Sons. It is a three-manual organ with 37 registers. The action was changed to electropneumatics in 1931. Around 1970, changes were made to the disposition in order to bring the character of the organ closer to the Baroque ideal of our time. After the organ suffered damage from smoke and water as a result of a fire in the church in 2008, a major restoration was necessary. In 2010, the South Island Organ Company carried out this restoration. The action has been newly constructed, with mechanical key action for the keyboards, as well as electrical action for the stops. The organ was put into use again on February 13, 2011 with a concert by Dianne Halliday.
