Built by: Aeolian-Skinner Organ Company (1962) - opus 1390

  • The current building of the First Presbyterian Church in La Grange, Illinois, was constructed in 1962 after a design of Charles Stade. The church replaced a building from 1912. A new pipe organ was ordered for the new church, and the instrument was built by the Aeolian-Skinner Company as their opus 1390. Some ranks were taken over from the Estey organ of 1924/1931 that was installed in the previous church building. Consultants were James A. Thomas and James C. Andrews. Church and organ were dedicated on December 2nd, 1962. The organ was named the Elsie Springer Hall Memorial Organ. Official dedicationary concerts followed on January 13, 1963 by James A. Thomas and on March 17, 1963 by Leonard Raver.
  • The Chancel Organ was built with some of the Estey ranks. This organ was modified in the following years, but had to be removed after water damage made this instrument unplayable at the end of the seventies.
