Built by: Hook & Hastings (1887) - opus 1366
The Church of Our Savior in Brookline received a gift from Sarah E. Lawrence in 1869: a fine pipe organ, opus 485 from the firm of Hook & Hastings. Over time, this organ has been lost. However, the opportunity came to buy another Hook & Hastings organ, built in 1887 as opus 1366 for the newly built Felicity Methodist Church in New Orleans. It is comparable to the organ that disappeared in 1869. The organ in New Orleans came up for sale after the church building suffered heavy storm damage as a result of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The company Redman Organ Works transferred the organ to Brookline.
