- The old medieval church of Avelgem was replaced in 1869 by a new church in neo-gothic style. In the old church was an organ by Pieter Van Peteghem from 1787. Whether this has been transferred is not clear. In 1918, the church was almost completely destroyed during the First World War. The organ has certainly been lost. The current church was built in 1924-1926. Jules Anneessens built an organ for this church, which was dedicated on December 9, 1928. The organ was played by Joseph Hanoulle and by abbé Camille Jacquemin.
- The organ was damaged by a bombing on 10 May 1940. It has been restored by Jules Anneessens. The instrument sustained new damage in the fall of 1943. This has also been repaired by Anneessens.
- The organ originally had French inscriptions at the stops. These were replaced by Dutch labels after the Second World War. Over time, the Quint 6' from the first manual (and as a transmission on the pedal) has been changed to a Flute 4'.
