  • Gerard D'Hondt built a new organ for the Sint Amelbergakerk in Zandhoven in 1956-1957. The instrument was dedicated on April 28, 1957, after which a concert was given by Edgard De Laet. In later years the Quintatoon 8' of the Zwelwerk was replaced by a Gedekt 4'.
  • The church building was badly damaged in 1914, when the tower was blown up. The organ, a work by Smet-Vermeersch from 1841, was lost as a result. In 1939 a new organ was dedicated, built by Gerard D'Hondt. This instrument was demolished in 1956. Pijpwerk was reused in the construction of the current organ.
