Saint Mary's Episcopal Church was originally built as part of a large cathedral, the Cathedral Church of Christ for the Diocese of Philadelphia of the Episcopal Church. Construction was halted in the 1930s. After the Second World War, a new cathedral was built in a different place. The already completed Lady Chapel was now dedicated as Saint Mary's Church. A new organ for the church was built in 1999 by Patrick J. Murphy & Associates.
