1767 Gottfried Sonnholz  new organ
1950 Pirchner Orgelbau  rebuild
2017 Wolfgang Karner  reconstruction

  • In 1767 a new organ was built for the Malteserkirche in Vienna by Gottfried Sonnholz. The instrument had eight stops, divided between a manual and an independent pedal.
  • In 1950, using material from this organ and the organ case, a new organ was built by the Pirchner company with sixteen stops, two manuals and pedal. The compass of the keyboards was increased and the pedal pipework was placed in a separate case behind the organ.
  • Wolfgang Karner carried out a reconstruction of Sonnholz's organ in 2017. Much of the old pipework was still there, the rest was made new in style of the original work.
