The church 'Zur Schmerzhaften Mutter Maria' in Essen-Fischlaken was built in the years 1948 to 1952, as a second church in the parish of the Sankt Ludgeruskirche in Werden. The church contains an organ built by Friedrich Meyer in 1890. It was originally built for the Evangelische Kirche in Dortmund-Brackel. In this church, the organ replaced an instrument from 1758. In 1958 the organ was transferred by Alfred Raupach to the church of Fischlaken. A new organ case was manufactured with a prospect consisting of freestanding pipes. The stoplist has also been modified.
