  • The small organ in the Nicolaikirche in Herzberg was built in 1982 using various older parts. It has a main case with and a positive that was added later. The main organ case was added by Paul Ott to an organ of Johann Kuhlmann from 1825 in the year 1932, as a Rückpositiv. During a restoration of this Kuhlmann organ in 1978-1979, the Rückpositiv was removed. Martin Haspelmath rebuilt this positive as a stand-alone organ for the Nicolaikirche in Herzberg. Consultant was Hans-Ulrich Funk, organist of this church. Haspelmath modified the organ by replacing the Quinte with a Krummhorn 8', and the Octave 2' with a Flageolet 2'. The pedal was realized without stops (pulldown). Later a Subbaß 16' of Furtwängler from 1870 was installed on the pedal.
  • In 1988 the organ was overhauled by Rudolf Janke. He also modified the stoplist. The Flageolett was replaced by an Octave 2' from Krell (1870), parts of the Gedact 8' and Principal 4' were renewed, using pipes by Krell (1870) for the Gedact and by Engelhardt (1859) for the Octave. A Gambe 8' (from a°, Krell 1870) was added to the organ. Hans-Ulrich Funke added a Violon 8' to the pedal in 1992, built by Euler in 1830, and replaced the Krummhorn with a Nassat 3' by Ott (1968). The Krawinkel company tuned the organ in a Bach-Kellner temperament in 2004.
  • A new positiv was added later by Jens Steinhoff. With this addition the original instrument has also been rebuilt, with a different stop list. The stop drawers of the positive are in the back of the positive case, behind the organist. The pipework for the pedal is located free-standing behind the organ.
