  • In the last quarter of the seventeenth century (around 1685), Blasius Bremser built an organ for the abbey church of the Sisters of Nazareth in Lier. After the monastery was closed at the end of the eighteenth century, the organ was sold to the Sint Laurentiuskerk in Wilmarsdonk, a small village near Antwerp. Henri Vermeersch rebuilt the instrument in 1853. Around 1960 the Aerts & Castel company carried out a restoration.
  • However, the village of Wilmarsdonk was demolished except for the church tower in 1966 due to the expansion of the port of Antwerp. The organ was dismantled and stored on April 24, 1966, awaiting reconstruction in the newly built Sint Laurentius church in Schoonbroek near Ekeren, now a district of Antwerp, where many residents of Wilmarsdonk moved to.
  • The organ case was restored in 1989. The interior is still waiting for a restoration and rebuilding. Fundraising started in 2010. The restoration could be started in 2018, and was carried out by the company Pels-D'Hondt. On February 2nd, 2020 the organ was re-dedicated with a concert by Peter Waldner.
