  • In 1849 Carl Gottlieb Jehmlich built a new organ for the Johanneskirche in Reichenbrand. The instrument was in bad condition after the First World War. The prospect pipes had been removed, the mechanics were worn and the clavature and the wind supply were also in need of restoration. In 1938 it was finally decided to have the a new organ being built by the Jehmlich company. The organ case and sixteen ranks were taken over from the previous organ.
  • On the Sunday of the first Advent, November 27, 1938, the organ was dedicated with a performance by Herbert Collum, organist of the Kreuzkirche in Dresden, in collaboration with choir and orchestra. After the Second World War, the organ quickly fell into disrepair. An overhaul was already necessary in 1959, but could only be commissioned to Jehmlich in 1977.
  • However, work could not start until 1982 due to lack of materials and long waiting lists at the builder. In 1986 Georg Wünning took over the work. He fought the woodworm, but no repairs were made. Volunteers kept the organ playing in the following years. In 1999 Christian Reinhold carried out a restoration of the register switches, the wind supply and some other things. Despite all these emergency repairs, a thorough restoration is still necessary.
