The Kreuzkapelle in Mauersberg is a building with a remarkable history. In 1889 the old Wehrkirche in the village was demolished and replaced by a new larger church building. At the initiative of Rudolf Mauersberger, cantor of the Kreuzkirche in Dresden, the reconstruction of the old Wehrkirche started on another location in 1950. The new building is completely in the old style, and various historic pieces could be purchased for the interior. Eule built an organ with sixteen stops, located behind a beautiful historicising front. The organ was completed in 1952. The Kreuzkapelle was inaugurated on July 5, 1953.
