  • The organ in the church Sant'Alessandro in Colonna in Bergamo is the opus magnum of Giuseppe II Serassi (1750-1817). In several respects it is a special instrument, not only because of its size, but also because of its technical aptitude. It is arranged on the Epistle and the Gospel side of the choir. The keyboard is located on the Epistel side, in the organ case where the Grand'Organo, Organo Eco and the pedal registers are also located. The action to the Terz'Organo on the Gospel side has a total length of 33 meters and runs under the floor of the choir. The manuals of Grand'Organo and Organo Eco have a compass of 62 notes: from C-contra to f''', where the contra-octave is short. The Terz'Organo has a compass of 54 tones: C-f''', the pedal has 24 tones: C-b°. Furthermore, the organ is equipped with well-known Italian playing aids such as Tiratutti, Combinazione libera for Grand'Organo and Terz'Organo and Ripieno.
  • In 1887 Adeodato Bossi-Urbani replaced the mechanical action of the Terzo Organo with electrical action. This was the first time in Italy that electrical action was used in an organ. The underground mechanical action was no longer needed. In 1970 the organ was restored by the Fa.Tamburini. The underground mechanism of the Terzo Organo has been reconstructed by them. In 1989, Tamburini made a new console that was installed in the choir. From this console the Grand'Organo and the Organo Eco could be played via a robot keyboard, the Terzo Organo via the Bossi wiring.
In 2010 this console was disconnected due to transmission problems. Since then the organ can only be played from the original console.
