The church of Apelern is a very old hall church, which dates from the twelfth century. In the church there is an organ from 1966, built by the company Schmidt & Thiemann. It has two manuals and pedal. The pedal is placed behind the organ in a niche in the church wall. The church previously housed an organ by Philip Furtwängler from 1859. This was demolished in 1963. The organ was restored in 2000 by Jörg Bente.
