• The läktarorgel (main organ) of the cathedral in Växjö was built in 1779. The organ case was made by Lars Wahlberg, but he died during construction. The organ was completed by Olof Schwan. However, the interior was replaced in 1885 by a large romantic organ by Åkerman & Lund, which was converted to electro-pneumatics by the Marcussen firm in 1940. The old organ case has been preserved.
  
• Around 2000 a plan arose to rebuild the original instrument according to the specifications from 1779. A part of the original pipework was still available, because the interior was sold to the church of Slätthög in 1885. In Slätthög, however, people did not want to sell this pipework. Three organ builders, Grönlunds, Bergenblad & Jonsson and Ålems Orgelverkstad were commissioned to work together on the project under the project name Växjöorgeln HB. The pipework was made by Helmuth Lutz, using the material in Slätthög as examples. Ulf Oldaeus was appointed as advisor. The instrument was delivered in 2002. The materials by Åkerman & Lund from 1885 have been used in the construction of a new organ in Skellefteå Landskyrkan.
