The organ of the cathedral in Tarbes was initially built in the years 1678-1680 by Gérard Brunel. Brunel, however, died before the organ was completed. Robert Delaunay then took over the work and completed the instrument the same year. In 1868 the organ was rebuilt by Baptiste Puget. Even more drastic was the 1884 renovation by Auguste Commailles. He changed the design to a romantic organ with a free-standing console. The case of the positive was emptied. In 1956, the company Pesce carried out a restoration. The organ was reconstructed in the years 1990-1993 by Bartolomeo Formentelli, using all the original material still present.
