1940 Lifart Orgelbau AG  rebuild

  • The Markuskirche in Luzern was originally built in 1898-1899 as an English Church, named Saint Mark's Church. The company Goll built a three-manual organ for this church in 1903. It was located in three cases, left and right of the choir arch, and a third case in the northwestern corner of the church. In 1940 the instrument was rebuilt by Orgelbau Cäcilia on one location in the church, where all the original cases were put together. Some stops were added at the time (Concertflöte, Hautbois and Violin Diapason).
  • The organ is not in use anymore since around 1970. In 1984 the church was sold to the Evangelische Freikirche in Luzern. The renovated the building, and re-opened on October 27, 1985. But the organ was not restored, an remained in an unplayable state.
  • In 2017 the church interior was renewed again, to make the church more usuable for other activities. This reconstruction was completed in October 2017. It is uncertain whether the organ is still present in the building or not.
