The organ builder Antoine Herbuté was commissioned in 1842 to build a three-manual organ for the church of Heiteren in the style of the newly built organs by the Callinet brothers. The organ was given a classical French structure with a treble keyboard for the Récit. However, the quality of the work was below Callinet's standards. It was completed in 1844. The organ was converted in 1925 by Joseph Rinckenbach. The pedal compass was enpanded from 18 to 27 keys and the Récit was changed to a full keyboard. The disposition of the Récit was romanticized. In 1980 the organ was partly restored by Alfred Kern.
