Na de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd het Kieler Schloß in moderne stijl herbouwd. In het gebouw werd ook een grote concertzaal ingericht, waar de firma Kemper een groot concertorgel voor bouwde. Adviseur bij de bouw was Walter Kraft. Op 30 mei 1965 zijn het slot en het orgel in gebruik genomen. Het orgel is in 1979 door de firma Paschen gerenoveerd en uitgebreid.
