The Skinner firm built a large organ for Hope College's Memorial Chapel in 1928/1929. The chapel was renamed Edward D. Dimnent Chapel in 1959. The organ was given six divisions, including an Echo Organ arranged as a Fernwerk. After a new organ by Pels & Van Leeuwen was placed in the chapel in 1974, the Skinner organ was used less and less. It decayed slowly but surely. In the years 2005-2007 it was completely restored and brought back to its original condition by the Thompson-Allen Company. On January 30, 2007 it could be put back into service with a play by Huw Lewis.
