Friedrich Wilhelm Wäldner built a new organ for the Domkirche in Halle/Saale in the years 1844-1851. The organ replaced Christian Förner's organ, which Händel played on. Over time, the organ has been revised several times, but had also been modified. The organ was restored by Kristian Wegscheider in 2017-2018. The original situation has been reconstructed. The instrument was inaugurated again on December 24, 2018, during a special vesper on Christmas Eve at 5 PM. From June 28 until 30, 2019, the organ was officially dedicated during a festive week (Festwoche) with a number of concerts.
