The organ of the Sankt Petri-Kirche in Rochlitz was completely restored in 2006 and returned to its original state. It was built by Paul Schmeisser in 1894. It replaced an organ by Gottfried Silbermann from 1727, which was demolished despite protests. The Schmeisser organ was inaugurated on July 20, 1894. This restored instrument was put back into use on Sunday October 29, 2006. After the church service, a concert was given by Steffen Walther, organist at Chemnitz.
