- Ylivieskan Kirkko was a beautiful wooden church, built in 1784-1786. The building was designed by Pekka Raudaskoski. The church was known for its beautiful interior with remarkable paintings and furniture.
- In 1971 the Kangasala firm built a new three-manual organ with 35 stops for this church. Consultants were Tauno Äikää and Pentti Pelto.
- On Holy Saturday, March 26, 2016, the church was destroyed by a blazing fire as a result of arson. The organ has also been lost.
