  • In 1869 Per Larsson Åkerman completed a new organ for Vanha Kirko (The Old Church) in Helsinki. The instrument hadd two manuals and pedal and mechanical action with barker machines. In 1875 Åkerman completed the organ by placing some reserved stops. In 1923 the Kangasala firm converted the organ to pneumatic action and it was also moved within the church. The action was electrified in 1954, again by Kangasala. On this occasion, the instrument was also expanded.
  • In 1971 it was decided, using the old pipework and the facade from 1869, to have a new organ built by Hans Heinrich with mechanical action and slider chests. This three-manual organ had 36 stops and was completed in 1973. But after some thirty years, it was decided to reconstruct the original organ. This work was carried out to the firm Åkerman & Lund. All the pipework has been inventoried, the disposition of 1875 has been taken as the starting point, mechanics, windchests, keyboard and wind supply were rebuilt after the example of the still existing Åkerman organs from this time. The renewed organ was completed in 2005.
