  • North Adelaide Baptist Church was built to a design by James Cumming. The church could be opened in November 1870. The organ builder J.W. Wolff placed an organ in the church in 1876. It was dedicated on July 4, 1876. This instrument was replaced in 1890 by the current organ, built by the firm Fincham & Hobday. Consultant for the new organ was Joshua Ives, organist of the church, who also played the opening concert on March 26, 1891. Some ranks of the previous organ were re-used by Fincham & Hobday. The bellows were operated by a hydro-powered motor. The action was tubular-pneumatic with a detached console. The instrument had three manuals and pedal with 32 stops at the time.
  • In 1917 some improvements and disposition changes were made by Victor Weber, brother of the then organist Horace Weber. In 1929 the water motor was replaced by an electric one.
  • The firm J. E. Dodd & Sons carried out a major renovation in 1958/1959. The electrified the pneumatic action, installed a new console, and modified the specification. In 1968 some more modifications were carried out. In 1990, the organ was enlarged by George Stephens with a second Mixture on Great. A last rebuilt took place in 2013, when the electric wiring has been renewed and a modern combination system was installed.
