Ernest Skinner bouwde in 1927 een groot orgel voor Christ Church in Cranbrook, Detroit. Dit orgel had opus nummer 567. In de loop van de tijd werd het verschillende malen verbouwd en uitgebreid. Vanaf 1980 ging het bergafwaarts met het orgel. Storingen volgden op elkaar, en verschillende revisies leidden niet tot verbetering. In 1991 besloot men tot de bouw van een nieuw orgel, met het Skinner-pijpwerk als uitgangspunt. De firma Mander bouwde dit hernieuwde Skinner-orgel, dat in 1997 in gebruik kon worden genomen. Er is ruimte gereserveerd voor een nog te plaatsen Antiphonal Organ.
