2023 Weimbs Orgelbau  restoration

  • The company Walcker built a new organ for the Evangelische Kirche in Bonn-Oberkassel in 1908. The instrument has two manuals and pedal with thirty stops, including three transmissions. The organ case is a design of Otto March, the architect who also had designed the church itself. The organ was installed on a gallery on the choir side of the church, above the chancel.
  • In 1975, a new organ was installed in the church, on a gallery on the opposite of the Walcker organ, by Willi Peter. The old organ was no longer in use, but was preserved on its location. Some stops were taken from the organ and used in the new instrument.
  • When problems occured with the electric system of the Peter organ, the decision was made to restore the Walcker to its original condition, and to remove the Peter organ from the church. In February 2021 the restoration started by the removal of the complete organ and the Walcker pipes in the Peter organ by Weimbs Orgelbau. Consultant during the restoration is Manfred Schwartz. The reconstruction was completed in the spring of 2023.
