  • In Steglitz, the old village church was replaced by a new building in gothic revival syle in the years 1876-1880. The new church was dedicated on November 28, 1880. This new Matthäus-Kirche had an organ built by the company Gebr. Dinse. Under the direction of Frank Michael Beyer, organist of the church, a new organ was built in 1957-1958 by the Walcker company as their opus 3642. The organ builders Herbert Schulze and Karl Theodor Kühn were also involved in the construction. The prospect was designed by the architect Ernst Bittcher. The organ was designed with some typical insights into the structure of the instrument of the Schulze firm, with registers divided into groups and unusual aliquots. During the construction of the organ, Walcker placed a small instrument of the type 'Modell J' in the church in 1956.
  • In 1984 the organ was overhauled by Karl Lötzerich. He installed a new console and re-voiced the organ. The new console has three manuals, but only two manuals are in use. In 1994 the organ was repaired.
