De firma Van den Heuvel kreeg in 2004 de opdracht voor de bouw van een groot concertorgel in de zaal van de Deense radio in Kopenhagen. Met de bouw werd begonnen in augustus 2004. Het orgel was eind 2006 gereed, maar kon nog niet geplaatst worden omdat het gebouw nog niet gereed was. De ingebruikneming vond plaats op 17 januari 2009, tegelijk met de opening van de nieuwe concertzaal. Het orgelfront is ontworpen door Jean Nouvel, de architect die het hele gebouw heeft ontworpen.
