Voor de universiteit van Queensland werd in de jaren zeventig van de twintigste eeuw een auditorium gebouwd naar ontwerp van de architect Robin Gibson. Het gebouw kreeg de naam Mayne Hall. Roger Pogson bouwde een groot orgel voor de zaal, dat ontworpen werd als een zogenaamd universeel orgel. Alle muziekstijlen zouden kunnen worden gespeeld op het instrument. Het orgel is in feite gebouwd door de Duitse firma Laukhuff en werd door Pogson gemonteerd en geïntoneerd.
