  • The Gerkenberg monastery near Bree is a large complex, built in the years 1914-1919. Originally it was used as a Carmelite monastery, but since 1927 it has been inhabited by the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart. From 1969 to 2001 it was a reflection center, since 2001 the building has been owned by the municipality of Bree. There are plans for redevelopment of the building while retaining old elements, but it is not certain that this will go ahead.
  • A large church in gothic revival style was built near the monastery, dedicated to Our Lady of Carmel. The Stevens company built a two-manual organ for this church in 1926.
