Built by: firma Rudolf von Beckerath (1976)

  • The old monastery church of Knechtsteden near Dormagen burned down in 1869, but was rebuilt between 1896 and 1908. Since July 25, 1974, the building has been a Basilika. In the church stood an organ of the Klais company from 1925 with two manuals and pedal and 31 stops. This organ was replaced in 1976 by a new three-manual organ by the company Von Beckerath. Consultants for the construction were Josef Zimmermann and Hans Hulverscheidt. The organ case and prospect were designed by Walter Laible. The organ was inaugurated on December 12, 1976, three weeks after the death of Rudolf von Beckerath.
  • The organ only served briefly in Dormagen: it was disassembled and stored in 1986. Later it was sold to Alzey, where it was inaugurated on November 30, 1997 in the Nicolai-Kirche. The old organ of this church, built by Oberlinger in 1955, was sold to Kraków.
