- The old church of Markneukirchen was lost in a major city fire in 1840. The organ of Friedrich Wilhelm Trampeli from 1817 did not survive the fire. After the construction of the current church, a large two-manual organ was placed here by Johann Friedrich Schulze from Thuringia. Carl Ferdinand Becker, organist of the Nicolaikirche in Leipzig, inspected the organ in July 1848.
- In the years 1872/1873 Carl Eduard Schubert worked on the organ. He replaced the pedalboard with a new one in Silbermann style. At the Hauptwerk, the Bordun 32' was replaced by a Terz 1 3/5' and the Quinte/Octave was split, for which the Hohlflöte was sacrificed. Gamba and Salicional were completely renovated.
- In 1935, the Jehmlich company installed a wind motor. The Oberwerk was expanded with an Aeoline on a separate pneumatic chest. The Harmonica 8' was replaced by a Sifflöte 1' and the Posaune 32' by an Oktave 4'. In 1975 the pedal keyboard from 1873 was replaced by a new one by VEB Orgelbau Dresden.
- The organ was restored by Kristian Wegscheider in 1993 and 1994. The original situation was completely reconstructed. The missing stops have been recreated in style.
